Terms of Use

The Good Index is a news aggregation and intelligence platform. We aggregate publicly available RSS feeds, generate AI-powered analysis and summaries, and present them for informational purposes.

Content ownership: All original articles belong to their respective publishers. We do not claim ownership of any source content. Our AI-generated summaries, analysis, and scores are original works created by our platform.

No warranty: Content is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. AI-generated analysis may contain errors. Always refer to the original source for authoritative information.

Fair use: Our use of source material constitutes fair use under applicable copyright law. We store only metadata and brief descriptions from RSS feeds (which are published explicitly for syndication). Our AI-generated summaries and analysis are transformative works that add substantial new value and meaning.

Content Aggregation Policy

• We only consume RSS and Atom feeds — content explicitly published for machine consumption and syndication.
• We respect robots.txt directives, including our bot-specific rules and crawl-delay.
• We identify ourselves with a clear User-Agent string that links to our bot info page.
• We enforce per-domain rate limiting to avoid placing undue load on publisher servers.
• We store metadata only (title, author, URL, publication date, brief description) from RSS feeds.
• All AI-generated content (summaries, analysis, scores) is original and transformative.
• We always link to the original article — readers must visit the publisher for full content.
• We attribute the source and author on every article reference.

DMCA Takedown Policy

We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that your copyrighted work has been used in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please submit a DMCA takedown notice.

To submit a DMCA takedown notice:

Send the following information to our designated agent:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed.
3. Identification of the material on our site that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (URL preferred).
4. Your contact information (name, address, telephone, email).
5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

How to submit:

• API: Submit via POST /api/takedown with type “dmca”
• Email: Contact us through the information on our About page

Upon receipt of a valid DMCA notice, we will promptly remove the identified material and notify the content source if applicable.

Publisher Opt-Out

Publishers can opt out of our aggregation at any time through any of these methods:

1. robots.txt: Add a Disallow rule for User-agent: SignalBot
2. Takedown API: Submit a source opt-out request via POST /api/takedown
3. Email: Contact us directly

Source opt-outs are processed immediately. Individual article removals are processed within 24 hours.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Good Index and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. AI-generated analysis and scores should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any decision.

Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
