What does DoorDash charge a restaurant per order?

DoorDash prices its Marketplace plans as a commission on the order subtotal rather than a fixed monthly cost. As published on 17 July 2026, delivery commission is 15% on Basic, 25% on Plus and 30% on Premier. Pickup orders are 6% on all three.

On a $40 delivery order that is $6.00 on Basic, $10.00 on Plus and $12.00 on Premier. The same $40 order collected in store is $2.40 on any plan — so the plan choice is worth $6.00 per $40 delivery order between the cheapest and most expensive tier.

What the higher tiers buy is reach, not a different fee base: Plus adds DashPass customer access and wider delivery range, Premier adds the widest range plus an order guarantee.

Is there a monthly fee or a contract?

No. DoorDash publishes no fixed monthly cost and no contract term for its Marketplace plans — “No contract. No fixed cost. You only pay when orders come in.” Access to online ordering is included on all three plans at no additional cost.

That makes the commission rate the whole of the published cost: a restaurant taking no orders in a month owes nothing. It also means the rate is the number to reconcile against, because there is no fixed line to amortise it away.

How long does the 0% introductory rate last?

Basic waives commission for the first 7 days. Plus and Premier waive it for the first 30 days. After the introductory window the plan's standard rate applies.

The asymmetry matters when trialling plans: a 30-day zero-commission run on Premier and a 7-day run on Basic are not the same test, because most of the Premier trial is priced at 0% and none of its 30% rate shows up in the first month's payouts.

What does the Premier order guarantee cover?

Premier carries an order guarantee: accept at least 20 orders in a month, and if that threshold is not met DoorDash refunds that month's commission costs. It is a floor on volume, not on rate — it pays commission back when the orders do not arrive, and does nothing to the 30% charged on the orders that do.

How does DoorDash compare with Uber Eats?

Both top out at 30% and both charge 25% in the middle. They differ at the entry tier and on pickup: DoorDash Basic is 15% delivery and 6% pickup, while Uber Eats' cheapest full-marketplace plan (Lite) is 20% delivery and 7% pickup — and Uber's 7% requires validated in-store pricing.

Uber Eats also publishes a 15% self-delivery rate for restaurants using their own drivers. That, not Lite's 20%, is the fair comparison against DoorDash Basic's 15%, because both assume the restaurant supplies the driver.

Published rates are not effective rates. Marketing programs, processing and order-error deductions all land between the subtotal and the deposit, so compare 30 days of payout statements before moving volume.
